In October of 2025, leaders from the Beatrice Community Hospital, the BCH Foundation, several employees and community members gathered in Wymore for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Wymore Medical Clinic.
The current building on Eighth Street dates back to the 1960s. It was established by Drs. M.E. Samuelson, J.C. Nelson and B.B. Weddington, a dentist.
Eric Trusty, senior executive of clinic services, said BCH purchased the original medical clinic in 1996.
“We’ve had a presence in Wymore since 1996 and we saw quite a bit of growth as far as the need for health care services in the Wymore area,” he said. “Having the local providers in the town and with some transportation challenges in coming to Beatrice, we’re really serving that community and the surrounding area.”
Since 2018, there has been a 79% increase in patient visits to the Wymore clinic.
“I think it really speaks to the Wymore community that they have supported the clinic. Our board has committed to continue to support it and that is the main reason we have taken on this construction project. But it is really the staff and the providers that keeps the clinic growing," he said.
The 7,200-square-foot building is estimated to cost $4.88 million. Construction is expected to be completed in late July or early August. It is located in the 300 block of South 13th Street.
There will be seven exam rooms, a procedure room, a lab draw room and space for behavioral health therapists. In addition, Arbor State Pharmacy will be leasing space in the building, which will have a drive-thru, to provide additional convenience for patients as well as the community of Wymore.
“The construction is progressing. With the warmer winter they were able to get the building up and things are progressing. We are excited to continue to provide care in Wymore, and our main goal is that our patients will be offered equitable care as in Beatrice,” Trusty said.
