Bryce and Kylee Hasenauer purchased the Midwest Bargain Warehouse in Blue Springs in February 2023.
Hasenauer said he and his wife are from a small town in Western Nebraska.
“We’re all about small towns and small businesses,” he said. “When we saw this business was available, everything just fell into place. It seemed like a smart investment.”
He noted that he has other business ventures, but in the future would like to grow the business and open the same type of store in other areas.
“The liquidation business is fun,” he said. “It’s kind of like Christmas every day. We don’t know what we’re going to get. It’s all unique.”
Hasenauer said that might also be the biggest challenge.
“People have to come in to see what we have because it’s different every time,” he said. “I can’t always get things when I want to.”
Some of the insulation and flooring that is at the store is from mills and may be considered seconds. Some of the items come from big box stores.
He noted that he likes being in a small town and finds value in knowing people in the community.
“I’ve had a lot of support from the community, and we’ve had good employees,” he said.
Dalton Ramsey is currently the general manager.
“We have a little of everything here,” Ramsey said. “We get good deals and sell it for discounted prices. Around here we fix things and keep things. We’ll keep doing that and don’t see that slowing down anytime soon.”
He noted that he has done different jobs and traveled throughout the country but has a family and loves what he does at the warehouse.
“We’re doing good things for the community,” he said. “I get to meet a lot of people and build those relationships.”
The Midwest Bargain Warehouse posts specials on their Facebook page. The store at 216 E. Broad St. in Blue Springs is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m.
