Terry and Bev Acton and their family will be hosting the 27th Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska on their farm east of Blue Springs on June 6-7, 2025.
The weekend-long event will bring 4,000 to 5,000 people to the area.
“We were approached about three and a half years ago and asked to work with the Cattlemen’s ball,” Bev said. “Anytime you talk about cattle, well, that is near and dear to our hearts since we are cow-calf producers. But once we got into it and found out why they did it, for cancer research, and that hit home to both Terry and I.”
The Cattlemen’s Ball is held in a different location each year, giving Nebraska communities the opportunity to showcase their unique area of the state. The event also promotes beef, one of the state’s largest industries, as part of a healthy diet.
Since the inaugural event in 1998, the Cattlemen’s Ball has raised more than $19 million to fund cancer research, with 90% of the proceeds going to the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha and the remaining 10% returned to the local community for health and wellness initiatives.

Bev said the event is not just for cowboys or cattle producers.
“It’s for anyone who wants to buy a ticket,” she said.
Terry said there would be events inside and outside tents.
“There will be a history tent, an art and wine tent, a general store, and we’ll have a beef promotion tent, which I think will be outstanding,” he said.
In a previous interview, Bev noted there would be a main tent the size of three football fields. They need about 40 acres for the additional tents that will include vendors, a silent auction, a saloon, a style show with cancer survivors and the serenity garden.
The outdoor entertainment on Saturday afternoon will be a ranch rodeo. Terry state he hopes there will be 15 teams.
“It is something we’ve all watched on TV and are interested in. There will be plenty to do,” he said.
Other entertainment has not been announced yet but is expected to be soon.
Tickets went on sale on Dec. 1. Only 4,500 tickets will be sold, with tickets sold until May 1 or until they are sold out.
The “top hand” ticket is $150 with activities starting on Saturday, June 7, at 12:30 p.m. There will be entertainment for the afternoon, a prime rib dinner and a concert.
The “trail boss” ticket is $400. On Friday, June 6, there will be a reception at 4 p.m. There will be an auction, a program and entertainment that evening. There will be brunch on Saturday morning and a luncheon also. They will also have preferred seating during all events.
